Heaven & Hell: The Eternal State

Article by : Thomas Luke Ph.D.

We posit that, upon physical death, the spirits of individuals who have reposed their faith in our Lord Jesus Christ for salvation transition immediately into His presence. They persist in a state of uninterrupted bliss until the resurrection of their glorified bodies, coincident with the Second Advent of Christ. Conversely, unbelievers, subsequent to death, experience an immediate apprehension of judgment and despair, which endures until the final judgment at the Great White Throne. At this juncture, their souls and bodies will be reunited and consigned to the Lake of Fire. These condemned souls will subsequently remain in perpetual torment, alienated from the divine presence (Luke 16:19–26; 23:42; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; 2 Thess. 1:7–9; Jude 6–7; Rev. 20:11–15).
