“Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.” —Matthew 5:7, NIV
The Chaplain of Mercy Literary Award stands as the second-highest textbook recognition from Chaplains College School of Graduate Studies. Eligibility requires graduation with a terminal degree (Ph.D., Th.D., or D.Min.), magna cum laude distinction or higher, and ordination as a Christian chaplain.
This award honors exemplary missiology research that is both practical in its application and marked by significant innovation and profound mercy.
Rev. Dr. Thomas Luke was awarded the Chaplain of Mercy Literary Award for his exceptionally merciful and profound missiology research addressing Cambodia’s child trafficking epidemic, documented in The Least of These 1st and 2nd Editions. His recent work, Transformational Theology, offers vital hope to the 1.5 percent of the global population grappling with dissociative identity disorder—a severe, rare, misunderstood, and often misdiagnosed trauma rooted in the prolonged and severe childhood sexual exploitation, violence, sexual torture, brutality, sadism, and depravity endured by numerous Cambodian and Vietnamese children.
Dr. Luke’s spiritual integration counseling system, though complex and profound, offers significant hope by integrating the Spirit of Jesus (Romans 8:1) into the healing process, facilitating the survivor’s integration into a one-host-identity in as little as ninety days.
While initially inspired by trafficked orphans in Siem Reap, Cambodia (2003), Dr. Luke’s research in Transformational Theology possesses broad applicability, extending beyond Cambodia and Thailand to city, county, state, national, and international levels. Notably, as of June 15, 2023, Transformational Theology by Rev. Dr. Thomas Luke remains the unique global publication employing a spiritual approach for the integration of survivors of sexual exploitation with dissociative identity disorder.
